Hi, My name is Suwattana Maestas!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and an Early Childhood Educator in Denver, CO.

I have 10,000+ hours of experiences interweaving child development, trauma-informed behavioral management, and the power of being present to children as young as their 1st year up to 10 years old, their parents, and teachers to promote happier relationships between children and their adult caregivers.

Research have demonstrated the benefits of play therapy:

  • Self-regulation skills

  • Problem solving skills

  • Better academic performance

  • Forming and maintaining positive, reciprocal, meaningful relationships

  • Be a positive contributing member of the community as an adult

What Is Child Play Therapy?

Play is children’s native language. Since children’s brains are still developing, a trained play therapist create a safe space allowing children to explore their feelings and conflicted experience while practicing new skills to overcome what was perceived as challenges.

I have utilized Child Play Therapy to promote hands-on, in-the-moment training for new adaptive skills for concerns such as aggressive behaviors (verbal and physical), emotional outbursts, difficulty concentrating, separation anxiety, self-depreciation or depression, encopresis and enuresis, removal from home, history of abuse and/or neglect, witnessed domestic/relational violence, single-event and complex trauma, etc.

What is Parenting Consultation?

As a parent, you are the main contributor to your child mental health and happiness.

I love to work alongside with my child client’s parents; biological, foster, adoptive, grandparent, etc., to set up goals that are meaningful to you and your family.

When parents are engaged with their child’s Play Therapy process, the change and empowerment happens sooner, deeper-meaning, and long-lasting for both the child and the family.
